Hardware Warranty information:

C.R. Laurence Co., Inc. (“CRL”) warrants that for a period of three (3) years following the date of sale to CRL’s customer, CRL Shower Door Hinges are warranted against material defects and defects in workmanship. All warranty claims are subject to inspection by CRL prior to CRL providing a remedy for the warranty claim. This Warranty will not apply if after inspection by CRL, it is determined that the Shower Door Hinges have been installed and maintained in a manner that is not in conformity with the instructions and guidelines set forth by CRL for proper installation and maintenance. CRL’s responsibility to provide a remedy under this Warranty shall be limited to either a refund of the purchase price, or to provide a replacement of a Shower Door Hinge. The refund or

replacement shall constitute the limit of CRL’s liability and obligation for any material defect or defect in workmanship in a Shower Door Hinge.

This Warranty is exclusive, and CRL makes no other warranty, express or implied, including without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall CRL be liable under any legal theory (including but not limited to contract, negligence, strict liability in tort, or warranty of any kind) for any indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or exemplary damages (including but not limited to lost profits).

• Premature Pitting/Oxidization (tarnishing)

If you notice your hardware becomes pitted or oxidizes prematurely, don’t worry, your hardware carries a 3 year warranty

against finish and mechanical failure- see above. All brass hardware will tarnish overtime, but with regular use of mild dish soap, it can be easily kept at bay and or eliminated all together. But if that doesn’t work, and the hardware does fail, it is covered by your warrantee.

Important note: the following conditions have been found to cause premature failure of finishes- in these cases, manufacturer, nor ATM Mirror & Glass is to be held responsible, as it is a situation beyond our control. These situations are extremely rare.

> Water containing high levels of chlorine (i.e. This is the case in *some* locations with town water- however generally not enough chlorine is present to pose a problem- if you have town water, and chlorine is known to be used, please wipe down your fittings after each use of shower)

>Sulfur

>Salt (and salt water aka. Chlorides)

>Acetone (in cases where water is contaminated), chlorides (see above listed item)

>Use of abrasive cleaners or harsh cleaners (any chlorine based chemicals, abrasive cleaners (i.e. comet® or similar,

softscrub® or similar, any ammonia based products, or use “restoration” products (i.e. Kaboom®, CLR® Zap®)

A simple test is performed by the hardware manufacturer to determine of one of the above environmental situations is present or has been utilized.

GENERAL:  YOUR FRAMELESS SHOWER DOOR CARRIES A (1) YEAR WARRANTY FOR LABOR; MEANING DOOR IS ALIGNED AND OPERATES AS INTENDED; THIS DOOR IS COMPOSED OF HEAVY GLASS AND IS NOT DESIGNED TO SWING FREELY. OFTEN THIS REQUIRES DOOR TO BE PUSHED “IN” TO THE SHOWER AREA BEFORE OPENING OUT. THE (1) YEAR LABOR WARRANTY WILL COVER ANY ADJUSTMENTS IN HINGE ALIGNMENT, PANEL ALIGNMENT OR SIMILIAR- IF NEEDED.

CAULKING/SILICONE SEALANT:  CRL Mildew Resistant Clear 33S Silicone Sealant; designed for use for glazing industry- safe for use in living spaces (i.e.indoors ).  It is a one component, room temperature curing, acetic cure, 100% silicone elastomer that does not require the addition of activators, stabilizers, or catalysts to achieve optimum performance.  As all silicones required for use with glazing applications, flexibility is required.  33s warrantied to stay flexible for at least ten years.  Mildew resistant product- does not prevent mildew growth, but will reduce and resist growth.  IN SHOWER AREA, AS WITH ANY CAULKING PRODUCT, A PROPER CLEANING AGENT AND PROPER VENTILATION IS REQUIRED FOR USE TO PROHIBIT MILDEW GROWTH.  MILDEW WILL GROW IN ANY ENVIRONMENT, WHICH IS DAMP AND NOT PROPERLY VENTILATED. CAULKING WHICH HAS BECOME STAINED IN ANY FASHION IS NOT A WARANTEE ITEM AS THIS IS A SITUATION THAT IS NOT DUE TO THE PRODUCT NOR APPLICATION, BUT RATHER AN ENVIRONMENTAL FACTOR AND NOT ABLE TO BE CONTROLLED BY ANYONE OTHER THAN THE USER.  Enclosure will carry a 1 year silicone seal warrantee against leaking.  If seal has broken due to misuse,  gouging or other environmentally related abuse warrantee will be void.

ENCLOSURE WILL NOT LEAK AT AREAS WHERE SEALANTS HAVE BEEN APPLIED- UNDER NORMAL USE

• POLYCARBONATE (PLASTIC) STRIPS: (AKA “T-STRIPS”):  Your enclosure has been installed with use of polycarbonate strips along the perimeter of any operating parts of the enclosure. This includes the door area and the transom area (if applicable These strips are used to help keep water in the shower area. Your enclosure is not a fish tank and is not designed to hold water; its purpose is to deflect water into the shower location. Please remember, unlike the framed doors of the past, your frameless door is a European styled door with minimal use of metal (i.e. jambs etc). The European bath’s, for which the frameless door is styled after, feature a drain not only in the shower area, but also feature a drain outside of the shower as well- so situations such as water over spray are not a concern of theirs. However, they are a concern to us and thus make use of the polycarbonate strips. The strips are a maintenance item and will eventually need replacement. We warrantee the installation of the strips for a period of 30 days from installation, after which the replacement is a service charge. On the other hand, we hare happy to supply the strips to you free of charge, for you to install any time during the life of the enclosure. The strips have to be picked up at our facility and we strongly recommend that the existing strip be brought with you so that we may match up the profile used.

REMEMBER, THE STRIP IS ATTACHED TO THE EDGE OF THE GLASS BY USE OF AN ADHESIVE MANUFACTURED BY THE 3M COMPANY. 3M STATES THAT THIS ADHESIVE HAS A CURE TIME OF 48 HOURS (4 DAYS). FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS CURE TIME WILL RESULT IN THE T-STRIPS FALLING OFF PRE MATURELY! PLEASE WAIT THE RECOMMENDED CURE TIME.

i. WATER WHICH IS AIMED DIRECTLY AT OPERATING PARTS OF THE ENCLOSURE, SUCH AS DOOR AREA OR OPERATING TRANSOMS WILL CAUSE WATER TO ESCAPE THE ENCLOSURE. DOOR AND TRANSOM HINGES HAVE VOIDS WHICH ARE REQUIRED TO ALLOW FOR PROPER OPERATION OF THE HINGE- TO SEAL HINGES COMPLETELY WOULD CAUSE DOOR OR TRANSOM TO BIND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPERATE OR POSSIBLY DAMAGE THE HINGE. FRAMELESS SHOWER ENCLOSURES ARE A EUROPEAN DESIGNED ENCLOSURE MAKING USE OF LESS METAL THAN TRADITIONAL FRAMED ENCLOSURES- THEREFORE THERE IS A GREATER LIKELIHOOD OF WATER ESCAPING THE SHOWER ENCLOSURE AREA. THE ENCLOSURE IS DESIGNED TO ASSIST IN DEFLECTING WATER BACK INTO THE SHOWER AREA; IT IS NOT DESIGNED TO HOLD WATER LIKE A FISH TANK.

• GLASS BREAKAGE:  Although generally unlikely, As with any glass product, there is no warranty against glass breakage.  Your glass is tempered safety glass, as required by government code-it is somewhat stronger than regular annealed glass and if it should break, it will break into smaller, less dangerous pieces rather than large pieces.  PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL GLASS PRODUCTS SHOULD BE TREATED WITH EXTREME CARE!  DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO OPERATE ENCLOSURES IN A “ROUGH” OR AWKWARD FASHION AS THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS!  PARENTS PLEASE SUPERVISE CHILDREN WHEN OPERATING ENCLOSURES!  WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY EVERYDAY USE OR BY ACCIDENTS BEYOND OUR CONTROL . 

• GLASS HAS BEEN THOROUGHLY EXAMINED FOR DEFECTS, INCLUDING: SCRATCHES, CHIPS OR BURN MARKS (A POSSIBLE RESULT OF TEMPERING PROCESS). All glass contains various types of flaws or blemishes, which may be visible to the naked eye. This is unavoidable - even the finest raw materials contain minor flaws. The federal government mandates that no defects should be visible in the glass when it is viewed horizontally or vertically from 11 feet away under normal lighting. All of our glass meets these standards. ONCE GLASS IS INSTALLED, EXAMINED AND SIGNED FOR, WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE SUCH AS CHIPS OR SCRATCHES.
• RITEC CLEARSHIELD: your glass has been treated with Ritec ClearShield, please remember, this does not make your glass “maintenance free” it justhelps prevent the accumulation of debris from the glass surface which can in turn permanently damage the glass surface. You may clean your glass with any cleaner (again, we strongly recommend use of an ammonia free product) and it will not remove the ClearShield from the glass. We still of course, recommend using a squeegee after each use of your shower- youwill notice that water will “bead” on the surface of the glass and be much easier to clean- often clients report that using a squeegee alone is all that is needed to keep the glass clean and they never need to use an additional cleaner- others state that some mineral deposits do form, but can be easily removed from surface when being cleaned.
